I miss Ansley!!

Ansley you’d better be touched ok! You’re the first person whose name made it into my entries’ titles! *laugh*

My daily must-nudge-in-msn buddy. When will you next be online? I miss nudging you for no reason. LoL.

Late flight on a Sunday night. Went to send him off to Japan! Yes my dear friend has flown to Japan to work! Feeling excited for him.. Japan! Language barrier is a big hurdle that must be crossed, with JP being a only-one-language-other-than-simple-English country.

Oh well.. will I get such a chance? =)

psst.. Ans: leave a msg when you manage to come online!

Evacuated yet again

1143hrs. Panels in office were shaking again.

Evacuated via the lift this time. Too wobbly our legs to take the stairs within 24hrs. =|

Packed our stuff, went for an early lunch. Instructions were given we can work from home if we can. And so I worked from home the whole afternoon.

What a day.

EARTHQUAKE! RUN!!

I thought the day was bad enough..

Was on my way to work this morning, boarded the 8.45am bus. As the bus was reaching the ERP gantry on PIE after Lornie Road / before Stevens Road exit, there was a MASSIVE jam. Why? ‘coz it’s almost 9am. You can see the many motorcycles + vans + cars + lorries all slowing down / waiting by the road shoulder. The jam went as far as Eng Neo Road exit! The gantry light went off when the bus was just 5m away from it. Zoom! All vehicles sped up. -.-! Typical Singaporean mentality. If you don’t want to pay the ERP charge, don’t use that stretch of road! The traffic police should station there at 8.55am. Confirm will get many bookings! *angry* wasted my time at the jam!

the cat scratched me!5+ pm. Clumsy me knocked against the door that leads to the toilet again. It happened all the time anyway. But! The metal decoration at the edge scratched my arm today! =( Pain lor! Blue black!

Hai. thought it’s going to be another long day @ office again. Rushing work for internal UAT. Until my colleague went “Earthquake!” It’s only when I stood up then I realise “hey! I can’t stand still!” Another colleague went “look at those panels! they’re moving!” (the panels are hanging from the ceiling) “Look at the big boss’s panels!” OMG.. It was when “everybody pack up. Let’s go!” when everyone started to pack as quickly as we could.

Evacuated via the back staircase. 26 storeys! Not that I’m afraid of height, but many thoughts went past my mind while I was packing and running down the stairs. The fear of working in an office so high up, the fear that I might get stuck within the building.. =( Legs were so wobbly by the time I reached 8th storey. Hai..

Best thing is, the staircase didn’t lead us to outside of the building. WHAT’S AN EVACUATION STAIRCASE FOR WHEN IT DOESN’T BRING YOU TO SAFETY???

No matter where you walk outside the building, you’re still under shelter. Good for sunny days but at times like this??? DANGEROUS! =|

Anyway I’m safe and sound. Still in shock though. Flashbacks kept happening while I was on the bus home. Suddenly thought I don’t dare to go home now, ‘coz I stay on the 11th floor. Scary! Decided it was safe enough when I alighted, but I had difficulties walking, not to mention that I had to cross the bridge by walking up/down the stairs.

Yes.. my legs are still wobbly now as I’m typing this entry. Hai..

The rush, the fear, plus the fact that we actually ran down 26 storeys of stairs.. I can’t take another of such happenings please..

It’s later when I heard on the radio that the earthquake was at Sumatra, and the earthquake weighed 8 on the richter scale. While we’re all here safe and sound, pray the number of people affected over at Sumatra are safe and sound as well.

oops!

I realised I missed out on Saturday! *faints*

Finally had a chance to play badminton again! After 1 month! -.-”

Had a late morning session instead of the night session, thanks to EPL. Hahha..

4 of us, 2 courts. with 3 people flying us aeroplane.

Played till arms sore, probably due to too long nv play.

After 2 hours, it’s lunch @ Can 2!!! Woohoo! I simply miss the food there. Fried Fish soup set! Managed to finish up the ingredients, left more than half of the plate of rice untouched. =( Was feeling full actually. Hahah.. But just wanted to eat the food that I miss!

Left house at 3.40pm, waited till 4+ for the guys to pick me up from the bus stop. Proceeded to job fair @ suntec.  Games Fest was interesting. The Playpark quest queue was so long that we decided to give up on the pretty-looking playpark paperbag. You gotta queue to take the quest card, and complete 8 quests at 8 stations, before you can queue to get the paperbag. LoL. The bag’s pretty, but the queue was too long for our liking. After walking around, I saw PS3! Wii! PSP! OMG.. I feel like buying =X Wii is interesting!

Before I buy on impulse.. we left for the job fair at level 4. hhaha.. Feels pretty small scale. No I’m not looking for a job, already turned down an offer after the company tried asking me 3 times. =| But there doesn’t seem to have any jobs / companies that can catch my eye.. Except probably those related to airport. =D

Food fest was next door. I shoo-ed the guys out of it before we were 20 steps in. Too smoky. And all 3 of us were fresh out from shower. *bleah*

Finally bought my facial products from Faceshop @ Marina Square (MS again..) The series was out of stock at other outlets. I wonder if it really is that good. Probably I can tell u that in 2 months’ time after I try it out.

Dinner.. was at e.Blackboard @ Bedok. Simply because we’ve not been there for ages, and I felt like eating steak. Hee.. And so we went all the way there. Yay! Jem’s cousin & cousin-in-law were there, so we had priority. Hahahah.. Food was served pretty quickly, and we had soup! Not to say that GST was absorbed for us. =D Rare chance for dinner @ e.blackboard to be done by 8pm. I was taking my own sweet time savouring the steak. Niceeeeeeeee.

Thinking of where to go after dinner. ECP was rejected. Hahha.. and so we’re left with .. Airport!! Long time since the 3 of us went there. The sky train was new (think it was already new the last time we were there, except that the platforms at T1 & T2 were under renovation then).

We took a long stroll (car was parked at T2) from the carpark to the other end of T2, and back to the carpark area to take the sky train to T1. Haha.. T2 was PACKED. Probably like wat Jk said, it’s the peak hour for arrival / departure. Was looking at the departure screens.. saw.. SQ638. My first thought.. “Ansley! your plane is here!” LoL.

At T1.. how can we miss out the viewing gallery? It’s my favourite spot! Planes coming in and out. Getting to know more about them from Jk. Missed those days when I studied for exams there. And that’s like.. 8/9 yrs ago? Gosh that’s LONG ago.

Walked around. Went Swensons. UNBELIEVABLE LONG QUEUE! Ended up buying just single / double scoops of ice cream to eat. =(

And so, it’s home sweet home at 10pm. Which is pretty early considering that our normal home time is about 12.

No.. we’re not bad influences on one another. In case you are wondering.

The happening week

I’m always at a loss when it comes to finding a suitable post title, especially when the entry is just about updates. That’s the problem when you have a limited vocabulary list.

Anyways, the previous post was meant to be an advert lah. Someone had to start the ball rolling by posting the blogbadge somewhere, since the blogbadge wasn’t on the site. =) New blogbadge should be coming by the end of the month. Another campaign, but I think this Tiger badge looks cooler.

The storm’s over, feeling so peaceful now.

Had a great week! Impromptu decision to meet Reenz & Gus for kopi after work on Tues. Not a bad way of destressing, not to mention that Reenz is having her school hols this week.

Meet Reenz (again?) and Fen for dinner @ Ikea Alexandra on Wed. Gossips! Pity Van stays too far (gal u shd try moving nearer to us hahahaha). Had my craving satisfied. Swedish meatballs!! Yummy! Though I felt too full afterwards, after downing a piece of chicken wing. keke. Reenz had to leave early, Fen & I decided to walk around Ikea, with me looking for ideas to revamp my room. Hoping to do it by end of year. Hopefully. *fingers crossed* Not too bad, got quite a few ideas, and KIV-ed a few items that I wanna get. Including a new and slightly-larger wardrobe. =D

Had a surprise pre-bday celebration for Van on Thurs. The dinner was planned a week before, last min decision to buy a cake for her. Heh.. Cafe Cartel @ Marina Square doesn’t allow people to make reservations (???) And Pasta De Waraku @ Marina Square doesn’t accept reservations after 7pm *_* 3 of us (Reenz Van & me) were early.. Went to try our luck @ Pasta De Waraku. 1 hour of waiting time! >.<! Walked around, decided on Cafe Cartel instead since it looks quite empty. But.. we were told the empty table of 12 was reserved! Almost fainted, especially when Van called to make reservations the day before, and was told they don’t allow reservations. Lucky the manager looks quite easy to get bullied. Hahah.. we got the table for 12! So rare to get so many people to turn up. Mingming flew us aeroplane at the last min, Dave & Gus already indicated that they couldn’t make it. But it’s still quite a feat to get such a big turnout! As usual.. the 4 gals sat at one corner to gossip. Jigg was late, so she sat at the other end. Hahaha.. I wouldn’t say we had any shocking news, just surprised. Yeah surprised. =D

Leewei was @ my office building eating icecream prior to our dinner date on Friday. And so I left office pretty early at 6.30pm though was supposed to stay a bit late to clear my stuff. Changed our dinner venue from the usual-Maxwell market to Chinatown Food Street. But we ended up at Maxwell again ‘coz the guys just love Maxwell so much -.-” And it’s KTV time!! Woohoo! I miss ktv-ing with them! Intro-ed them to a few new songs, which I got to know of from my other ktv gang. =) Not that my singing improved, but I think I need to practise more on my vocal. Seems like my vocal range isn’t wide enough.

王羚柔 – 当我们同在一起

庭竹 – 喜欢你

郭静 – 我不想忘记你

Tiger Turns 3!

This is cool!

Go ahead and send your greetings! Cool prizes to be won! Woohoo!

FYI.. This was what I had been working on last week (including my weekend). Support it! 😀

Anti-Smoke Campaign

The government has done a good job in restricting smokers from smoking in air-conditioned places. But can the restriction be imposed in residential areas as well?

We should implement the yellow-box smoking area on every floor. Probably at the staircase area. It’s darn irritating when smokers smoke along the corridor.

My flat, is just beside the lift. I’m ok when smokers smoke at the lift area, since it’s common area. But not when they smoke along the corridor! The cigarette smoke is darn irritating!

And it happened not just once.

My neighbour always invite friends to their house. (There are only 2 units on this side of the lift, with mine along the corridor and neighbour’s at the corner) That’s pretty cool actually, the cosiness and stuff like that.

BUT.

Not when their visitors smoke at my doorstep! My neighbour’s family is nice enough not to smoke along the corridor lah.. I’ve no qualms about that actually. But if the visitors attempted not to smoke in the house, why can’t they walk further (probably just 10-20steps away) to smoke? Why sit at my doorstep? Why stand along the corridor?

If I’m one who don’t really care about neighbourhood ties, I’d have just opened my door and said “if you want to die earlier by smoking, don’t drag innocent people in by smoking here lah”. And that’s being nice enough.

Ok lah.. not blaming them actually. They moved to somewhere else to smoke after we requested them not to smoke at my doorstep.

But I thought the anti-smoke campaign should be extended to include residential areas as well. Especially public housing where corridors are a common sight.

I’ve got neighbours who smoke at home too. Every night I get the cigarette smell from outside my room (it’s opposite the room along the corridor). Well.. that’s something out of our control. Not even governments. Nothing that we can do anyway. You smoke at home, I don’t care. Just don’t do it at common areas please.

programmer-teacher-to-be

Thought I’d just pop by before jumping onto my bed.

Cleared the shyt that happened on Wed. Seriously I’ve never felt so down that day. Probably I did, but each time I had that feeling, it’s always worse than the previous.

The past week hadn’t been so smooth. Lots of OTs, something which shouldn’t happen at all. Especially when I left office only at 11.30pm, and worked from home till 3am. It’s not my principle to work from home.

Friday night was supposed to be spent at a dinner with close frens, but one fell sick. Was in office till 9+pm instead, planning to meet Fen & gang @ Pump Room. The headache got so bad that I had difficulty walking. Not to mention that I waited a long time before I could board my bus, and had to stand all the way back home. All thanks to Comex that’s held next door.

Saturday was supposed to be spent relaxing. Went for an expensive haircut in the morning. Freaking $400. -.- Kill me.

Got called back to work. From home. Great. And I’m just done with it. What’s the deal with me checking what you’ve done when you’re supposed to test and make sure everything’s fine before passing to me? WTF. Wasted my saturday. But then, I feel like I’m pro enough to teach people how to do programming. =D

Dead tired. Time to sleep.
