Planning for Korea trip [Part 1]

Yes I’m going Korea! woohoo~

Inspired by Carolyn & Lewis’s trip to Korea in Oct. So I’m doing my own research, for a 100% free-&-easy trip 🙂

Air tickets have been bought, at ~$576. Thanks to Cathay Airlines – HSBC Platinum card promotion.

With this place as my main agenda, activities shall be planned around here.

Everysing @ Myeong-dong

Found this fabulous Korea tourism site while googling for everysing. It’s pretty similar to our YourSingapore site. It has almost all the information that you’ll probably need. [That was where I got most of the info I needed for my production-brief for Carolyn!]

If you’ve been watching the recent K-Drama Personal Taste on Channel U, the place where the female lead is staying at, looks pretty cool eh? Yes.. I’m planning to make a visit to Sanggojae! Its actual name is Bukchon Hanok Village, a village with 600 years of history.

"Sanggojae" in Personal Taste

Korea here I come!! 🙂

Mix Pod – Imeem replacement?

Imeem was bought over by MySpace not long ago, and I wasn’t too enthusiastic about finding a replacement.. Until I saw this at one of the kpop sites this morning 😀

And here’s a sample I’ve created.

Might be embedding it to the blog, don’t worry, I’ll set it not to play on load 🙂

Super Junior – Ryeowook – One Fine Spring Day [Lyrics]

As the title depicts, this is a song by one of the Super Junior members – Ryeowook.

Geu nal cheoreom ttatteuthan baram bulgo
[A warm wind is blowing like it was that night]
geudaega sarang hadeon hwabunen kkochi pigo
[The flowers you lovingly planted have bloomed]
Eoneu saenga bom nari deuriwodo
[Before I know it, spring has come again]
ajikdo nan gipeun gyeo uljameul jago shipeo
[I still want to deeply sleep like it’s winter]

Aju meolli, aju meolli geudaega inayo
[You are so very far, so very far]
sashil nan geudaega maeil geuri unde
[To be honest I miss you every day]
Aju jageun, aju jageun saso han geoteuredo
[Even the very small, very small trivial things]
maeil geudaega saeng gagi na
[make me think of you every day]

Bangan gadeuk nama wirohae judeon
[Your comforting scent fills the room]
geudae hyang giga kkossoge da heuteojyeo
[in the flowers scattered around]
Eonjenga neun neukkilsu eobseulkka bwa
[Because I’m afraid one day I won’t be able to feel it]
geudae iteon gong girado bujaba dugo shipeo
[I want to take hold of even the air that you were in]

Aju meolli, aju meolli meon gose inayo
[You are so very far, so very far]
sashil nan geudaega maeil geuri unde
[To be honest I miss you every day]
Aju jageun, aju jageun saso han geoteuredo
[Even the very small, very small trivial things]
maeil geudaega saeng gagi na
[make me think of you every day]

Haruga myeo dari dwego
[A day becomes months]
eonjen ganeun nae mamedo oneul gateun saebomi oltende
[It seems that even in my heart too a new spring has come…]

Aju meolli, aju meolli meon gose ineyo
[You are in such a far away, far away, far off place]
geudaeye maeireun bom narira mideo
[I believe to you every day is spring]
Aju meon nal, aju meon heunal geudae nareul mannamyeon
[On a far off day, a very far off future, if you see me again]
neul hamkke yeotago yaegi haejwo
[Tell me we were always together]

Without understanding the lyrics, the song made me feel emo while listening. At their recent concert in Taiwan, Ryeowook introduced the Chinese version of the song! [The lyrics are an exact translation of the Korean version] His pronunciation has improved!

[Chinese]

Sunrise Sunset, Sunrise Sunset

A week of Memories

So the kids had their Prom night on Monday. Joined them as the alumni had 2 tables.

Then I had to be reminded of the days 7+ yrs back. Sigh. I hate it when this happens. Too much thoughts that night, and it made me do something that I usually wouldn’t have the courage to do. SIGH.

Nevertheless.. the night was great! Seeing the juniors enjoying themselves.. Couldn’t help but think to myself, that would be the last time they can get together as a class. Totally reminded me that my batch didn’t have a prom night at all.

Tues night was Cultural Potpurri. Was great seeing my teachers after so many years! Managed to catch up with a few of them 🙂

Watching the kids perform, brought me back to the Nan Hua days.. I thought I saw familiar faces on stage as the Dance Society members performed.

Those were the days.

Learning Korean #1

Yours truly decided to start a new series here, while I’m still having the korean fever 🙂

So! I’ve only attended the Korean Basic class organised by the CC near my place, all I can remember from the class, was how to read the Korean words. What I’m going to include in this series, are what I’d learnt from watching the various dramas & variety shows. 🙂

First up, how do you say brothers / sisters? Now you have to understand, in the Korean language, there’s a difference between how the boys and the girls say certain things.

Elder Sister /
[the sister may not necessary be of blood-related, but someone you are close to and have a sister-ship relationship]
누나 (nuna or noona) – called by a boy
언니 (eonnie or unnie) – called by a girl

Elder Brother /
[the brother may not necessary be of blood-related, but someone you are close to and have a brother-ship relationship]
오빠 (oppa) – called by a girl [sometimes you can hear (in korean shows) girls calling their partners oppa]
형 (hyung) – called by a boy

Younger Brother & Sister /
[the brother / sister may not necessary be of blood-related, but someone you are close to and have a sister-ship relationship]
돔샘 (dongsaeng) – called by both the boys and girls, referring to someone who is younger (regardless of gender)

That’s it for now! Drop me a comment if you find this useful! 😀
