Busy (pun intended) yet mundane June

You must be wondering what that post about Pinkys is all about. Asked a friend to help me get from Japan, so it’s more for her reference. =D

So what have I been up to? Since my entries lately have been irregular, and makes no sense.

Been pretty busy, yet had a mundane lifestyle.

Kiro was in town on 8 June, for a conference by National Book Development Council. Rare chance for her to be here without her kid, so after a trip to Grouser’s biscuit shop, we made a trip to…

Despite hearing its name for quite sometime, it was my first visit. Main aim of the trip was because of the flea market, held there every first weekend of the month (I think).

Quite a few booths in the first part of the flea market, mostly accessories hand-made by the people. Photos will be up when Kiro uploads them.

Deeper into the room, were materials, not accessories, also hand-made.

Handmade bags

The above picture, handmade bags. Yeap they do not look interesting, neither do they look arty-farty, but they’re made from recycled paper. I was like, wow.. And there’s a limited-time warranty if you buy these bags.

With a closeup. They’re made of recycled materials – those packages that are used to contain fabric softener. Smelt nice!

I’d always love miniatures. These are made from clay.

2nd June, was an ex-colleague’s wedding. Congratulations to Charlie & wifey Yvonne! Can’t remember if photos were taken (since I never bring my camera), but will post if I get any! “A decade of love” was the theme of their wedding. They met each other through mIRC, got hitched together on 2nd June 1998. Wishing them many more decades of love!

21st June was Jazzle’s wedding. CONGRATS GAL!! Early ceremony @ Swissotel. Everyone was commenting that we don’t reach office that early (the hotel’s just a few steps away from our office). And my boss commented we should all wear so sweet everyday. *faints* Think everyday someone will puke seeing my fats buldging all over. HAHAHAHA :$ Photos will be up when I get hold of the group photos!

Had a mini birthday celebration for Jkai yesterday! Happy belated birthday bro! Yes we FINALLY took a group photo after so many years! LOL. Photos will be up when I transfer them to the laptop. And oh.. I think I’m getting better at playing pool. Can do with more practise. haha..

New look!

Post edit 27 June: I realise there are some bugs. Will fix when I’ve the time.

Spent a few days searching for nice themes to use. Shortlisted a few themes and finally decided on this!

Spent about an hr or so translating the error messages, which were in Spanish/French.

Spent another few hours getting the widgets up and running, inputing the celebrities’ urls (which are not part of the blogroll) etc.

And here it is!

Something bright and thankfully not sunny. Compared to the newspaper theme previously =)

Will there be a new outlook in life with a change in my blogskin? Hahaha..

Especially with a haircut and eyebrow trimmed, feeling refreshed.

More updates will be up, backdating all the way to 8 June, when I’m in the mood. All photos are in the work-laptop.

Meanwhile, stay tuned for the photos!

Falling in love again…

Adapted from SDU site

In the musical Forbidden City, the artist (portrait painter) Kate, noted that falling in love is precisely falling out of control. You will stand to lose some pride, dignity and control over the outcome.

But oh what a rush!

There is a rush of chemicals that make you feel so good when you fall in love.

As we get older, we either stop falling in love, or take longer to fall in love, or we’ve simply forgotten what it means to fall in love. It might help if we had over-active hormones, but it doesn’t mean that we can’t fall in love once past our adolescent. We just have to remember how to do it.

To fall requires one to let go. There is of course a risk in letting go, and as we get older, we learn to avoid risk, to manage risk, to minimise risk. As would any investment advisor (i.e. someone who wants your money) will tell you, risk isn’t always bad – it’s just a matter of balancing risk and potential returns.

So the next time someone piques your interest, don’t play down those feelings. Introduce yourself. Explore the possibilities of meeting for drinks. You might get rejected, but hey, you might also get a date.

So true.

.. as we get older, we learn to avoid risk, to manage risk, to minimise risk ..

And it’s not easy to

.. don’t play down those feelings. Introduce yourself. Explore the possibilities of meeting for drinks ..

Probably that’s why I’m where I am now. LOL

Obligations

You’re not obligated to do things just because you’re told to do it.

Neither are you obligated to continue as the VP just because everyone wants you to carry on.

I can see that you’re very tired, given the current family situation that you’re in.

Though there are many matters that I do not agree with you, we’re right in our own ways.

If you decide to carry on, then you’ll have to hang on there. I know you still have an undying passion for the school.

=)

New song

I saw the playlist..

Stay With You [New Song] Japanese – Farenheit

Unless you’re really talented, please don’t try it again. The song doesn’t sound right.

The capability of people from Venus

Maybe that’s why my dept has only got 1 guy.

Article from Wall Street Journal.

.. insists that men and women write code differently. Women are more touchy-feely and considerate of those who will use the code later, she says. They’ll intersperse their code–those strings of instructions that result in nifty applications and programs–with helpful comments and directions, explaining why they wrote the lines the way they did and exactly how they did it. ..

An advert in Thailand by Smart Purse

If you don’t understand Thai..

The first time the guy bought the hotdogs, the lady said all for 40baht.
The next time he went, it cost 120baht. The lady said “Your card has ran out of money.” *sad look on the guy & the dog’s face* “But you can use a point from a card to buy them.” *grinz*
