Year 2010 ended with a good note. Hope 2011 will be evenย better!
Happy New Year my dear readers! ๐
Thank you for being part of my 2010 (line stolen from Reenz ;p)!
Was at the bus stop waiting for bus, while on my way to meet Jodi jie-jie for lunch. When the wind got stronger.
As I was in shorts, it was cold!
Then my mind went blank. Instead of my usual thoughts of “it’s a nice weather”, the mind went “is it the end of the world already? I left house leaving the sister at home alone. What happens if the wind got too strong?” etc.
That thought was random, but I came to realise that we only live once. If we do not put effort into our lives now, we will come to regret in the future.
For the record, I just got charged an extra 4cents thisย morning on the way to work. I’m gonna make it a habit to blog it everytime I’m overcharged. We shall see how much extra I pay in a year.
[This post is inspired by publictransport.sg. Which I entered my ezlink card number to check the refund amount, to see a statement that says “you have also been undercharged 4cents which the bus operators will forego…”]
Yes I’ll be away for 3 days (Tue 14 – Thur 16 Dec)!
Been a long while since we last went on such trips, even though there’s only 3 families going – 2nd aunt & small-aunt ๐
Backlogs will (yes WILL!) be cleared when I’m back!
When (some of) the usual suspects met up recently, they were talking about this data-plan in Malaysia, that is capped at RM5/day. So I asked my colleague for more details, and she sent me this link which left me in a “wow” mode ๐
I’m so gonna get one when I reach Malaysia, lest the addiction in me acts up ๐
Meanwhile..
Have you seen it yet? Singapore Tourism Board’s 2011 Calendar!
Kinda surprised to see the page on International Holidays! Makes it so convenient!
Now there’s no reason not to See, Do & Go!
Yes I’m going Korea! woohoo~
Inspired by Carolyn & Lewis’s trip to Korea in Oct. So I’m doing my own research, for a 100% free-&-easy trip ๐
Air tickets have been bought, at ~$576. Thanks to Cathay Airlines – HSBC Platinum card promotion.
With this place as my main agenda, activities shall be planned around here.
Found this fabulous Korea tourism site while googling for everysing. It’s pretty similar to our YourSingapore site. It has almost all the information that you’ll probably need. [That was where I got most of the info I needed for my production-brief for Carolyn!]
If you’ve been watching the recent K-Drama Personal Taste on Channel U, the place where the female lead is staying at, looks pretty cool eh? Yes.. I’m planning to make a visit to Sanggojae! Its actual name is Bukchon Hanok Village, a village with 600 years of history.
Korea here I come!! ๐
So the kids had their Prom night on Monday. Joined them as the alumni had 2 tables.
Then I had to be reminded of the days 7+ yrs back. Sigh. I hate it when this happens. Too much thoughts that night, and it made me do something that I usually wouldn’t have the courage to do. SIGH.
Nevertheless.. the night was great! Seeing the juniors enjoying themselves.. Couldn’t help but think to myself, that would be the last time they can get together as a class. Totally reminded me that my batch didn’t have a prom night at all.
Tues night was Cultural Potpurri. Was great seeing my teachers after so many years! Managed to catch up with a few of them ๐
Watching the kids perform, brought me back to the Nan Hua days.. I thought I saw familiar faces on stage as the Dance Society members performed.
Those were the days.
It’s back after 17 years!
Yours truly decided to start a new series here, while I’m still having the korean fever ๐
So! I’ve only attended the Korean Basic class organised by the CC near my place, all I can remember from the class, was how to read the Korean words. What I’m going to include in this series, are what I’d learnt from watching the various dramas & variety shows. ๐
First up, how do you say brothers / sisters? Now you have to understand, in the Korean language, there’s a difference between how the boys and the girls say certain things.
Elder Sister / ๅงๅง
[the sister may not necessary be of blood-related, but someone you are close to and have a sister-ship relationship]
๋๋ (nuna or noona) โ called by a boy
์ธ๋ (eonnie or unnie) โ called by a girl
Elder Brother / ๅฅๅฅ
[the brother may not necessary be of blood-related, but someone you are close to and have a brother-ship relationship]
์ค๋น (oppa) โ called by a girl [sometimes you can hear (in korean shows) girls calling their partners oppa]
ํ (hyung) โ called by a boy
Younger Brother & Sister / ๅผๅผ ๅฆนๅฆน
[the brother / sister may not necessary be of blood-related, but someone you are close to and have a sister-ship relationship]
๋์ (dongsaeng) โ called by both the boys and girls, referring to someone who is younger (regardless of gender)
That’s it for now! Drop me a comment if you find this useful! ๐
On hiatus as usual. Many thoughts but no time/mood to update the blog.
I can feel myself going into depression recently. Must find ways to face death bravely.
