Yours truly decided to start a new series here, while I’m still having the korean fever π
So! I’ve only attended the Korean Basic class organised by the CC near my place, all I can remember from the class, was how to read the Korean words. What I’m going to include in this series, are what I’d learnt from watching the various dramas & variety shows. π
First up, how do you say brothers / sisters? Now you have to understand, in the Korean language, there’s a difference between how the boys and the girls say certain things.
Elder Sister / ε§ε§
[the sister may not necessary be of blood-related, but someone you are close to and have a sister-ship relationship]
λλ (nuna or noona) β called by a boy
μΈλ (eonnie or unnie) β called by a girl
Elder Brother / ε₯ε₯
[the brother may not necessary be of blood-related, but someone you are close to and have a brother-ship relationship]
μ€λΉ (oppa) β called by a girl [sometimes you can hear (in korean shows) girls calling their partners oppa]
ν (hyung) β called by a boy
Younger Brother & Sister / εΌεΌ ε¦Ήε¦Ή
[the brother / sister may not necessary be of blood-related, but someone you are close to and have a sister-ship relationship]
λμ (dongsaeng) β called by both the boys and girls, referring to someone who is younger (regardless of gender)
That’s it for now! Drop me a comment if you find this useful! π
